Musculoskeletal Disorders

Muscular-disorders

At Shri Kerala Ayurveda Vaidya Sala, we recognize the vital role the musculoskeletal system plays in maintaining overall health and mobility. This system includes muscles, tendons, ligaments, bursae, and bones, all of which work together to support joints and enable smooth and coordinated movement of the physical body.

Various conditions can impact this intricate system, causing pain, stiffness, and reduced mobility. Through the wisdom of Ayurveda, we offer holistic and side-effect-free therapies that address the root cause of these disorders. Our approach includes personalized herbal medications, physical therapies, and classical Panchakarma treatments, which are time-tested for managing musculoskeletal conditions effectively.

Ligaments

Ligaments are tough, flexible bands of connective tissue that connect two bones at movable joints. They play a crucial role in joint stability and help prevent dislocations. There are two primary types of ligaments—those composed mainly of collagen fibers (offering strength) and those made of elastic fibers (providing flexibility).

Tendons

Tendons are fibrous connective tissues that link muscles to bones. Their elastic properties allow them to function like springs, storing and releasing energy during movement. Tendons and ligaments work together in coordinated motion of joints, making them essential in daily physical activity.

Bursa

A bursa is a small, fluid-filled sac lined with synovial membrane, found in all synovial joints. It acts as a cushion between bones, muscles, and tendons, reducing friction and ensuring free, painless movement. Inflammation of the bursa, known as bursitis, can cause pain and restricted mobility.

Bones

Bones form the structural framework of the body and are primarily composed of calcium phosphate and calcium carbonate. Beyond support, bones serve to protect internal organs, act as levers for movement, and regulate calcium levels in the bloodstream. The bone marrow, located within many bones, is vital for producing and storing blood cells.

With 206 bones in the human body, each serving a purpose in protection, mobility, or hematopoiesis (blood cell formation), it becomes essential to maintain musculoskeletal health.
